Timothy Adedigba Ogunbiyi, professionally known as Digba, is a Nigerian jazz musician, pianist, composer, and educator from Lagos, Nigeria. His musical journey began in his parents' local church, where he actively participated in the choir from an early age. He developed a deep passion for music and pursued formal training at the Peter King College of Music, earning a diploma in 2011. He later achieved a Doctorate degree from the prestigious Eastman School of Music in 2024.
Since relocating to the United States in 2017, Timothy has steadily established himself as a prominent figure in the jazz community across New Jersey and New York. As a composer and performer, his work explores the intersection of jazz and Yoruba folk music, using improvisation as a tool for self-expression and cultural identity. His performances captivate audiences by seamlessly blending West African nuances with jazz and classical elements, creating a rich and immersive sonic experience.
In 2020, Timothy released his debut album, Ade'digba, an innovative project that fuses jazz and classical harmonies with West African musical traditions. His artistry has led him to perform at renowned festivals and events nationwide, both as the leader of the Digba Ogunbiyi Quartet and as a sideman. His appearances include the Rochester Jazz Festival, the Count Basie Celebration Concert in Red Bank, and the Syracuse Jazz Festival.
Through his work as a performer, composer, and educator, Timothy continues to push creative boundaries, fostering a deeper appreciation for the rich interplay between jazz and African musical traditions.
