Kathleen Scarborough is an experienced performer and dedicated educator with a passion for nurturing musicians of all ages. She holds a Master's Degree in Violin and Viola Performance, along with degrees in English and Secondary Education, as well as extensive coursework in Early Childhood Education. With a well-rounded background in music and pedagogy, she is committed to fostering strong technical foundations while tailoring instruction to suit each student's unique needs, learning styles, and interests.
Ms. Scarborough teaches all levels of violin and viola, as well as beginning through intermediate piano. She believes in cultivating a love for music through a structured yet flexible approach that encourages creativity, discipline, and confidence. Her students benefit from her broad experience across multiple musical genres, including Classical, jazz, big band, popular, folk, and Irish fiddle. In addition to private instruction, she coaches chamber music ensembles, assists students in preparing for auditions, and guides them toward achieving their musical goals.
Ms. Scarborough is an active performer who has played in a variety of professional settings, from orchestras to jazz ensembles and folk groups. She is a proud member of Musicians' Unions Local 77 (Philadelphia), 802 (New York City), and 2-197 (St. Louis), reflecting her deep connection to the professional music community. She resides in the Fairmount area of Philadelphia, where she continues to inspire and mentor musicians of all levels.
