Denise Nix has been an Early Childhood Educator and music teaching professional for over 35 years. She earned an Associate Degree with High Honors from the Community College of Philadelphia and, while attending there, earned the Phi Theta Kappa and National Hispanic Honor Society awards.
Denise teaches many different instruments, including piano, guitar, violin, flute, drum, and ukulele. As a piano instructor, along with her violin program, she begins gentle instrumental music instruction as early as age 2. She has written, directed, and produced several children's plays and recitals and has created numerous videos about her music studio life. With a music studio Facebook page of over 600 followers, her home-based music program has reached local families for over 12 years.
As a former Childcare Director, Denise ultimately found her niche as a music teacher for the Prek Kaleidoscope program and Children's Music Workshop/Children's Playshop program for the past 3 years. Additionally, Denise has traveled to area schools to mentor and train early childhood classroom teachers in implementing music programs into their preschool curriculums. Outside music, teachers have also come to Denise's classroom to observe her teaching methods and style. Not only limited to on-site mentoring and teaching, Denise was also selected to participate in a series of teacher-mentoring film projects, to submit her lesson plans/music teaching work samples for grant consideration, and to prepare her Preschool music classes for several on-stage musical productions.
Denise currently serves as a Children's Vocal Choir Director and a Children's Hand Bell Choir Director, and she volunteers monthly as a singer/soloist on the Praise and Worship Team at her local church.
She is the proud mom of 3 talented young adult sons, one of whom has performed the leading role of Lafayette/Jefferson for several years in the prestigious musical Hamilton. She enjoys preparing healthy southern cuisine, playing chess, writing children's books, fitness, and vlogging for her small YouTube channel.
