Piano
Born and raised in Haiti, Ross Chenet has a deep passion for music, particularly the piano and guitar, and a love for singing. He began playing the piano at the age of 15, starting his musical journey in a church choir. His roots in gospel music laid the foundation for his career, and as he progressed, he became a band leader and maestro. Over the years, Ross has led various choirs, including the Otsem Mass Choir, and currently leads a jazz band called Brotherly Jazz.
Throughout his school years, Ross continued to develop his musical talents, attending college in Haiti. Although he did not receive a music scholarship, he was honored in 2018 with an award for the best key players of the year, recognizing his contributions to his band.
Ross's most influential music teacher was his older brother, who not only taught him how to play music but also inspired him with his passion and discipline, particularly for the piano. Ross continues to be motivated by his brother's example and dedication.
Ross chose to teach music because he believes it is beautiful and one of the most impactful creations. Teaching allows him to share his passion and help students who start with no musical knowledge become skilled musicians. He sees teaching as a way to build his legacy through his students, knowing their success will endure.
He often tells his students that skill alone doesn't make a great musician. A true musician, he believes, is dedicated and disciplined, and this mindset leads to greatness in music.
