Violin,Viola

Peggy started violin lessons at age 7 with Mr. Dodges. She remembers playing violin duets with her sister after each lesson and performing for her parents. During Peggy's high school freshman year, the viola section was in need of good players. After listening to the Telemann Concerto, Peggy fell in love with the deep, rich, mellow tone of the viola. She sat first chair in the viola section throughout high school.

Ms. Acker pursued her studies of both viola and violin with Tobey Appel (now at Julliard) and Delmar Pettys of the Lenox String Quartet while obtaining her undergraduate liberal arts degree in Music at SUNY Binghamton. Ms. Acker teaches private lessons and performs as a freelance musician on both violin and viola, which allows her to teach the craft of live performance. Peggy believes that every student is a unique person who moves at his/her own pace and is capable of reaching the next level. She has inspired students from age 5 to 81 and by example shows that playing a stringed instrument enhances the very best qualities of life.

As a freelance performer, Ms. Acker will settle for nothing less than her best effort. She is principal violist in the Old York Road Symphony and performs regularly with Newtown Chamber Orchestra, Warminster Symphony, Philadelphia Consort and is a founding partner in 4 Strings Live.
