Tyler Buchanan is a seasoned multi instrumentalist and music teacher. Following his May 2020 graduation from William Paterson University, Tyler was eager to dive further into his own songwriting and music performance endeavors. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Popular Music Industry, which was a new program in which he studied songwriting and music performance, as well as music business and industry concepts.
Tyler began playing piano when he was around 8 years old, singing at age 15, and began writing songs and doing electronic music production at the age of 18. In total he plays and teaches piano, vocals, drums, guitar, bass, songwriting, and music production. As a child, Tyler had several recitals, and started playing open mic talent shows by the time he was in high school. Now at 25 he has written hundreds of songs for himself and other artists, and has released several of them onto Spotify to be listened to. His schooling gave him ample knowledge of music theory, songwriting & composing, music technology & synthesizers, ear training, vocal technique, and more.
In the years since graduating college, Tyler has gone on to accomplish several of his musical goals. He has taught individuals and larger classes of all youth ages (K-12), as well as a handful of students over age 30. In 2021, Tyler spent some time working with a couple of small video game companies doing freelance commissioned work, and selling his own compositions to indie video game developers. In 2022 Tyler finally achieved a goal he had been working towards since 2015, which was starting his own band. Tyler's indie rock band has served as a creative outlet for his songwriting and as a platform for trying out new ideas of music marketing.
Given his diverse musical background, Tyler likes to take a hands-on approach to teaching that is tailored to the individual student. He has a wheelhouse of games and activities to make things more fun, but also is willing to shift the curriculum in any direction to suit the student.
