Drum, Guitar, Bass, Piano

Steve Cunningham began playing music at the young age of 8. After hearing the song "Wipe Out" by the Surfaris and being mesmerized by the drum soloing throughout the song, he realized that he was meant to be a musician. He has since gone on to acheive great success in his lifelong career as a musician, performer, and teacher.

After mastering the drums, Stevie's love of music and passion for songwriting compelled him to take up guitar and bass. He later started his own group as lead guitarist, singer, and primary songwriter. Soon afterward, Stevie began taking piano lessons at a nearby music school where he learned piano, music theory, and technique. While attending college at Temple University in Philadelphia, Stevie played in his first professional band "Midnight." He learned the ways of musical cooperation and collaberation, and also joined a funk band as lead percussionist. He has since gone on to perform professionally with many bands and groups in a wide variety of genres and styles.

Stevie C. (or C-Note, as he is commonly called) has performed and recorded with many notable artists including Tommy Conwell of the Young Rumblers; Jay Davidson; Darryl Ray and John Bingham of Chubby Checker; Andre Story of Billy Paul's band; Fred the Red; and Mike Berarrdi. He currently plays in a jazz trio, a rockabilly trio, a funk band, and his own band, "Smarty Pants,"and occasionally sits in with local blues and rock groups.

Teaching has been a big part of Stevie's musical repertoire for decades. He has taught drum, guitar, bass, piano, and percussion to students of all different ages, backgrounds, skill levels, and musical interests. He very much enjoys sharing his abilities and teaching others how to enjoy the magic of making music. Stevie excels at connecting with his students, from very young children to adults, and tailoring his lessons to best fit each individual student. Where appropriate, he encourages his students by playing along with them on an accompanying instrument so that they can experience realistic ensemble or band situations. He teaches his students not only to play their chosen intrument, but also to be true musicians, performers, and masters of their craft.
