Alec Charon is a guitarist, composer and songwriter based in Philadelphia. A Rhode Island native, he has been writing and performing music for over ten years. Alec's roots are in blues, folk and classic rock, with over 4 years of formal education in jazz guitar. His teachers have included Peter Bernstein and Greg Kettinger. In high school, Alec performed in the All-State jazz band and choir, directed ensembles, and had his work performed and recorded by the University of Rhode Island Wind Ensemble.

Over the years, Alec has taught guitar, music theory, and composition to children as well as adults, and is comfortable teaching students of all ages and skill levels. His lessons focus on healthy playing technique, ear training and improvisation; his goal as an instructor is to give each student the tools they need to become confident, versatile musicians.

Alec is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Composition from Temple University, studying with Mike Moreno and Dick Oatts. He regularly collaborates with Temple's musical theatre program, and can be heard performing in musical theatre orchestras, churches and jazz shows throughout the Delaware Valley area.
